Uttarakhand State Council For Child Welfare

The Uttarakhand State Council For Child Welfare is a registered voluntary organisation that seeks to promote child welfare in the Indian hill state of Uttarakhand. As part of its child development activities it organises an all India 'Milke Rehna Sikho Shivir'…'Learning to Live Together Camp' where children from all parts of the country live together in a camp at Dehradun.

The Camp for the year 2008 is being organised from 16 May to 22 May 2008 at Government Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dehradun. The details of this camp are as follows:

236 children are participating from the age group of 10-14 years along with 38 teachers forming 26 teams from 24 Indian States

  • Ashokan Edict at Kalsi
  • Asan Barrage
  • Forest Research Institute (FRI)
  • Lachchiwala
  • Rishikesh
  • Haridwar
  • Guru Ramdev's Patanjali Yogapeeth

Following talks were conducted for the children:

  • S.L.Bahuguna, famous environmentalist
  • Dr. Bhupender Kaur, Project Director, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan
  • Geeta Siddhartha, President, ICCW
  • Sri J.C.Pant, (IAS, Retd.) Former Secretary, Govt of India
  • Sri Nilkhil Pant, Head, Child & Youth HRD Division, REACHA, N Delhi. He talked about the onlineKHOJ programme of REACHA, enrolled children for it and also showed video clips of how a Squash Development Programme (SDP) in Delhi was helping school kids to develop holistically
  • Sri DesiRaju (IAS), Principal Secretary, Health and Education, Uttarakhand
  • Governor, Uttarakhand, Sri B.L.Joshi will deliver the valedictory address
